DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, Vanguard with winding indicator, very rare non-magnetic variant with marked dial, 23J, 16S, gold-filled OF original Waltham marked case with attractive black enamel inlays, initials on rear, white enamel triple-sunk dial marked "Non Magnetic" above seconds-register, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel, diamond endstone, non-magnetic alloy balance and hairspring, checkerboard center pattern nickel damascene, s#19063711. The Waltham Vanguard winding indicator is very rare in this non-magnetic variant. We have seen a small handful of examples equipped with the signed dial and non-magnetic alloy balance identical to the present watch; the serial numbers of these observed examples are recorded within an ongoing NAWCC message board thread regarding non-magnetic Vanguards. Each example of this 16 size non-magnetic winding indicator variant that has been recorded within this thread has been within the 19063701-19063900 serial range, though a prominent thread contributer notes that he has also seen examples of ordinary (not non-magnetic) Vanguard wind indicators within this same 200 number serial span. CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, good winding indicator function, near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, few minimal micro-fine scratches, very small spot of finish loss to barrel bridge adjacent larger winding wheel near click; dial with light outer chapter hl above indicator-register near 12, light outer chapter hl below seconds-register at 6:30, extremely faint hl above seconds-register; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail, enameling detail fully intact, additional lever set slot at 1; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
